“Jeddah City” by Abdulrahman Bahumayd
Jeddah is second largest city after the capital Riyadh, which is located in the middle of the eastern coast of the red sea known as “bride of the red sea”.
Most of the visitors visit it to see how we apply our religion. It’s the most beautiful city in the country. Ancient buildings and modern restaurants make the city very attractive for tourists. Jeddah has one of the biggest popular places in this country, you can find your item cheaper than any other place.
Jeddah’s population like to spend their money in the shopping malls. We have restaurant similar to KFC, but it comes complete with its own secret recipe.
The funniest thing is that some people fly to Jeddah just to go to this restaurant, which has a special test and flavour. There are many scuba diving, sea diving water sport clubs in Jeddah that offer you a safe and memorable experience, most of them are located along the north corniche. Visiting Jeddah corniche, the king Fahd water spring, the world’s largest water fountain, cannot be missed out, visiting the corniche in the evening to enjoy the sunset, it’s nice view. The holy cities which are visited twice a year. The first visit, they come to perform Umrah rituals which is in Ramadan, the month that we fast yearly. The second visit, they come to perform Al-Haj rituals which is the last month in our calendar.

“The Norwegian town in Madagascar” by Arild M. Bakke
Antsirabe, the second largest town in Madagascar, is sometimes mentioned as a Norwegian town by journalists in Madagascar. When the first Norwegian missionaries came in 1869 it was only a village with some limestone quarry. The town got its name from the salty lime. The meaning of Antsirabe is “on the place where there is much salt”.
The pioneer missionary Thorkild Rosaas came in 1871. He was a dynamic, creative and hard working man. In addition to being active in church planting and the education of theological students, he did urban development and social work. He made plans for the roads and water channels, and he eventually organized the fulfilment of the project. As a result of the good plans, Antsirabe is one of the best organized towns In Madagascar.
The house Rosaas built as a mission station has been saved and is the oldest building in the whole town. The square close to this house has got the name of the pioneer missionary.
Rosaas also took the responsibility to build the biggest leper centre in the world. In the last part of the 19th century there were about 900 lepers living together with their families in this part of the town. – The social work that was initiated by Rosaas has since been some of the particularity of this town. The Lutheran church, which was established by Rosaaas, has institutions for disabled children and vocational schools. There is also a big hospital run by the church.
Today Antsirabe has about 200.000 inhabitants. The streets are always filled by rickshaws, locally called pousse-pousse. There are perhaps more than 7.000 of them. In the last 10 years there has also been more and more tuc-tuc, small taxis with three wheels and a small moped engine.
Antsirabe is also well-known for its hot springs. It was Rosaas that first developed the springs for medical baths and eventually the French colonialists built a big cure centre there. The water in these springs is good for health conditions.

“Lake Como” by Lavinia Capuana
Lake Como is located in Lombardy, Italy and it has a glacial origin. It has been a popular retreat for aristocrats and wealthy people since roman times and now it is a very popular tourists attraction with a lot of villas and palaces. Those villas have been built there since the roman period when Pliny The Younger built the Commedia and the Tragedia resorts. Most of villas have beautiful and admirable gardens that benefit from the mild climate due to the presence of lake water.
Lake Como is also a venue for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, above all in the northern part.
The nature of Como spaces from the lake to the mountain to the city and I think that it is famous for this characteristics, so it is famous amongst tourists from other European countries and United States.
Another popular and unique attraction is food. Most Italian dishes, especially those in the north, are butter-based. Lake Como has different types of fish to choose from and the most popular are lavarello and persico. Some of the famous dishes in this region are cotoletta alla Milanese, risotto alla Milanese (rice can be dressed in almost any way), polenta (a type of cornmeal), pizzoccheri della Valtellina (a dish made of pasta, cheese and vegetables). Of course, pasta is probably the most famous and popular dish in Italt and it can be eaten in many different ways.

“My Country” by Wanessa Santos – Find out more about Brazil!
Brazil, a country located in South America that has approximate 200 million inhabitants. It’s bordered by Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolívia Peru, Colômbia, Venezuela, Guiana, Suriname e Guiana Francesa. The only two countries that don’t have connection with Brazil, in South America, are Equador and Chile.
The country has 26 states and the Federal District. The biggest country of South America, and the 5th biggest in the intire world, is geographically divided in five regions: West-Central, North, North-East, South and South-East.
The West-Central consists of 4 states and the capital of Brazil, named as Brazilia. This region is famous not only to host the capital but also have the Pantanal – one of the biggest marsh in animal biodiversity in the world.
The North consists of 6 states and the biggest river in the world: Amazonas. This river is very important for Brazilians and also people from all around the world because it has almost 84 quadrillions litres of water, being the largest river in the world.
The North-East has the most beautiful beaches in Brazil, and consists of 9 states. People are friendly and can captivate even the shyest one. Also know for the biggest popular party in the world, the Carnival of Bahia attracts millions of foreigners from all continents. It was there, that Pedro Alvares Cabral discovered Brazilian lands and left his slaves. This event added a lot of African influences in the country: the mix of the races, the spicy food and those different types of religion and dances.
The South of Brazil, with 3 states, is characterized by European impacts: a large number of immigrants, mild temperature and cities designed with European styles. A huge natural monument located in this region is the Iguaçu Falls, that starts in Brazil and ends in Argentina.
The South-East is composed by 4 states that makes up a big part of Brazilians economy. If you want to associate the experience to party and to work in big companies, this is the place that you have to go. Only one state, São Paulo, represents a large part of brasilian economy. In Rio de Janeiro you can find The Sugar Loaf, the Redentor Christ and a lot of fun during the morning (beaches) or during the evening (in nightclubs).
The membership of Mercosul, the economy is based on Mining, Farming, Petrol and Tourism. The weather is hot in almost every regions of the country, in every season of the year. So, Brazilian people often wear informal clothes like shorts, dresses, jeans and shirts.
A typical meal in Brazil consists of rice, beans and beef. Another plate that is very famous is feijoada – beans with parts of pork. For desert, a typical Brazilian dish is composed by chocolate, condensed milk and butter.
And if you think that after all of this you don’t have a reason to go to Brazil, I can guarantee you that when you listen to samba, funk or forró you will just enjoy your time in our beautiful country.

“CAPE TOWN
If Cape Town is your choise to study, you should do the sightseeing routes by bus. There are two routes, the red and the blue one. It’s an amazing way to discover Cape Town .
The tickets for the trip are aviable at school and a lot of tourist shops. It’s about R120 to R250, depends on wha you want to do.
The buses have seven diferents languages to hear about the places and you just need to bring your camera to take photos and some money if you decide to spend all day travelling.
On the red bus route, you’ll see the important places in Town and know about the history of the Mather City.
On the blue route you visit the places around Cape Town, the mountains, beach points and wine farms, where you can taste some wines wich is included in the ticket price.
The bus takes you to a lot of places, so unfortunately, perhaps you won’t enjoy all of these in just one day. But you can buy a ticket for two days and have time to fall in love with Cape Town.
Atenciosamente,
Bruno G. Lopes”
